The Natural Park Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter covers 8 municipalities.
The limestone massif of Montgrí contains large areas of rock, shrub and forest, mainly of pine trees, which can be found on inland dunes. One of it´s faunal jewels is the Bonelli´s eagle.
The maritime section consists of high cliffs, which would have been a continuation of the Medes Islands. In the archipelago of the Medes breeds one of the most important colonies of segull in the Mediterranean and various pairs of crested cormorant. They highlight the importance of the valuable seabed.
Finally the plain of Baix Ter contains several attractive lakes for birds.
